Slow or backing up?

Blocked Drains

A blocked drain has an honest order of attack, and a working plumber follows it: snake first, a CCTV camera only if it blocks again, the hydro-jet only when the camera earns it, and excavation only when footage shows a structural fault. We quote each step before we do it — no jumping straight to the expensive tools on a one-off blockage.

Common questions

Blocked Drains — answered.

What’s the cheapest way to clear a blocked drain?

A drain machine (electric eel / snake), and that’s where we always start. Most first-time blockages clear at this step for $180–$400 and never need anything more. We don’t jump to expensive tools on a one-off blockage.

When do I actually need a camera or hydro-jet?

Only when the drain earns it. If a blockage keeps coming back, a CCTV camera ($250–$450) shows us why before anyone digs. A hydro-jet ($350–$650) clears tree roots and stubborn build-up the camera has found. Each step is quoted before we do it — no surprise escalation.

Why does my drain keep blocking?

Usually tree roots getting into a joint, grease and fat building up, or a cracked or sagging pipe. A recurring blockage is the drain telling you something structural is going on — that’s exactly when the camera pays for itself, because it turns guesswork into a targeted fix.

Do you do pipe relining instead of digging?

Yes, where the footage supports it. Relining (a “trenchless” repair) can fix a broken pipe without excavating your yard or driveway. When a dig is genuinely the only option, we’ll show you the camera footage so you can see why.

How can I stop my drains blocking in the first place?

Sink strainers in every drain, never pour fats or cooking oil down the sink, keep wipes and hygiene products out of the toilet, and run a bucket of hot water through the gully now and then. A quick bi-annual check beats a Sunday-night backup.

Is a blocked drain an emergency?

It can be — if sewage is backing up into the house or every fixture is gurgling and won’t drain, that’s a 24/7 call. A single slow drain can usually wait for a booked visit. Not sure? Call and we’ll tell you honestly.
