Smell gas?

Don’t flick a switch. Turn off the gas at the meter, open windows, get everyone outside — then call us from outside the house.

Licensed gas fitter · Authorisation held

Gas work, done legally — with the certificate to prove it.

Gas is the one job where “near enough” can kill someone. It’s also strictly regulated: a plumbing licence is not a gas authorisation — they’re separate tickets, and we hold both. Every legal gas job we finish comes with a compliance certificate, supplied and explained at handover.

Gas leaks — safety first

If you can smell gas, treat it as an emergency.

A rotten-egg smell, a hissing line, or a pilot that won’t stay lit all mean stop and make safe. Don’t use a switch, a phone, or anything that sparks inside the house. We detect and repair leaks right across the system: meter, lines, fittings and appliances. Then we pressure-test before re-commissioning.

Gas emergency — call (02) 4900 0000

If you smell gas

  1. 1 Don’t touch any switch, phone or anything electrical inside.
  2. 2 Turn the gas off at the meter if you can reach it safely.
  3. 3 Open doors and windows; get everyone out of the house.
  4. 4 From outside, call us — and emergency services if anyone feels unwell.

The paperwork that matters

Every legal gas job ends with a compliance certificate.

It’s not optional and it’s not a formality. A gas compliance certificate is the licensed gas fitter’s signed declaration that the work meets the standard — the document you need for insurance, for selling the house, and for your own peace of mind. If a “gas fitter” can’t hand you one, the work wasn’t done legally.

  • Issued by the licensed gas fitter who did the work
  • Required for insurance and property sale
  • Confirms the install meets AS/NZS gas standards
  • We supply it on the day and explain what it covers

Why a separate ticket?

In NSW, holding a plumbing licence does not authorise someone to do gas work — that needs a separate Gas Work Authorisation. It’s a common gap, and it’s worth checking before anyone touches your gas. We hold both, and both numbers are on every certificate and invoice.

How it goes

Call → 60-minute ETA → fixed quote → fixed-price fix → lifetime-backed.

  1. 1 Step

    Call

A real plumber answers — day or night. We triage on the phone and tell you what to turn off while we’re on the way.

  2. 2 Step

    60-minute ETA

An honest arrival time for the Newcastle & Lake Macquarie metro — not “sometime today”.

  3. 3 Step

    Fixed quote on-site

We diagnose the actual problem and quote it in writing before any work starts. $0 call-out.

  4. 4 Step

    Fixed-price fix

You approve the price; we do the work for that price. Compliance certificate supplied where the job requires one.

  5. 5 Step

    Lifetime-backed

Workmanship guaranteed in writing, for life. We register any unit warranty for you at handover.

Daniel M. · Merewether
“Booked them to install a gas cooktop. Proper licence, compliance certificate handed over on the day. The first plumber who actually explained what I was paying for.”

Common questions

Gas fitting, answered.

I can smell gas — what do I do right now?

Get everyone outside, don’t touch any light or power switches (a spark is the risk), turn off the gas at the meter if you can reach it safely, and call us from outside. We treat a gas smell as an emergency and respond accordingly. If anyone feels unwell, call 000.

Doesn’t a plumber’s licence already cover gas?

No — and this is the one most people don’t know. Gas fitting requires a separate Gas Work Authorisation on top of a plumbing licence. We hold both, and you should always check any tradesperson has the gas ticket specifically before they touch a gas appliance.

What is a gas compliance certificate, and do I get one?

It’s the legally required document certifying the gas work was done safely and to standard. Every legitimate gas job must produce one. We supply it and explain it at handover — if a “gas fitter” doesn’t mention a compliance certificate, that’s a serious red flag.

Can you install a cooktop, heater or gas hot water?

Yes — appliance and cooktop installs, gas heaters, and gas hot water units, each finished with the compliance certificate. We can also convert or extend gas lines and reconnect appliances after a renovation.

How much does gas fitting cost?

Most gas appliance and fitting work falls in the $1,500–$3,500+ guide range, depending on the appliance and how far the gas line has to run. The compliance certificate is included, and you get a fixed quote in writing before we start.

How do I know my gas appliance is safe?

We leak-test and pressure-test the line, check the appliance is venting correctly, and can carry out a carbon-monoxide check on heaters. If something isn’t safe, we’ll tell you plainly and make it safe before we leave.
